Marcela Linkova has been the coordinator of the NKC Gender & Science since 2001. She joined the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences in 2000, and became a researcher in 2005. She holds a doctorate in sociology from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague on the topic of public accountability and assessment of research. At the NKC Gender & Science she deals primarily with international cooperation and cooperation between the Czech Republic and the European Commission.

Her research concentrates on the transformation of academic work and analyses science policies from a gender perspective, especially the formation of career paths, research assessment and public accountability. She also coordinated two Framework Program projects and participated in others.

She served as a member of many advisory and expert bodies in the Czech Republic and the European Commission (e.g. Expert Advisory Board Science in Society, Expert Group on the Research Profession, Helsinki Group on Women and Science, Departmental Coordination Group Research and Development, VERA Working Group for the Development of Human Resources and Equal Opportunities for Women and Men in Research and Development at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports).
