Our advocacy Print page

One of our goals is to improve the policy making process in the Czech Republic in terms of gender mainstreaming of the national policies for research, development and innovation and to increase the transparency of the decision-making and policy-making processes.

We have been predominantly active in several areas:

1. Increasing the percentage of women in decision-making and policy-making positions in science

- The Council for Research Development and Innovation
- The Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic

2. Elimination of discriminatory rules in the grant award system on account of parenthoodIntegrating the sphere of research, development and innovation in the state machinery for gender mainstreaming

3. Increasing the visibility of successful women researchers

Since its inception in 2001 the NKC gender & science, has cooperated with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports within the framework of the state machinery for gender equality at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (Priorities and Procedures of the Ministry in Promoting Equal Opportunities for Women and Men). In 2008 the Ministry undertook to initiate an award for lifelong achievement for women researchers, which materialised in 2009 as the Milada Paulova Award.
